The Lexington Singers Children's Choir (LSCC) seeks a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as Artistic Director beginning with the 2023-24 season. Now celebrating its 20th season, the LSCC provides opportunities for the children of Lexington and surrounding communities to participate in a quality choral music education program and to further musical understanding among all peoples, regardless of religious, racial, cultural or economic background. Students are placed in one of four choirs, based on age and ability. The successful candidate will join the leadership of the family of choirs that comprise the Lexington Singers organization.

The LSCC Artistic Director will oversee the musical operations and artistic direction of the LSCC, including recruiting and auditioning of singers for all four choirs, management and support of the LSCC Artistic Team (seven part-time staff including three choir conductors, three accompanists, four to five music education major interns, and the LSCC Communications Coordinator) and development and oversight of all associated ensembles. The Artistic Director will also conduct the Chamber Choir (oldest singers).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct the Chamber Choir
- Oversee comprehensive K-12 program
- Manage program expenses to conform to the organizational budget
- Recruit and audition students of all backgrounds
- Establish and maintain regular communication with the LSCC Artistic Team regarding repertoire, rehearsals, concert schedules and concert programs and deadlines
- Schedule and design season concerts, including themes, locations and guest artists as well as managing all logistics pertaining to venues for auditions, rehearsals and performances
- Confer with parents/caregivers regarding volunteering and fundraising opportunities
- Attend monthly Board meetings and provide monthly reports to the Board
- Regularly audition choirs for KMEA and ACDA
- Plan tours and exchange concerts with regional children’s choirs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in music required; Master's in choral conducting or equivalent experience preferred
- Teaching experience at the K-12 level
- Sound vocal pedagogy that supports healthy singing for children in a variety of musical styles
- Demonstrated commitment to increasing diversity with a keen sense of programmatic relevance among the target student age
- An established history of building successful relationships with families, donors, other artists and community stakeholders
- Strong organizational and management skills
