"Brand New Day"
An IN-PERSON 2021 Spring Pops Event!
For a year now, the Lexington Singers have faced a challenge unlike any in
the group’s sixty-two–year history: how do you share the twin joys of singing
with friends and performing for an audience when you can’t safely gather in person?
Guided by a creative and dedicated staff and board and aided by the efforts
of many tech-savvy Singers, we haven't missed a beat, musically or otherwise.
We've rehearsed together over Zoom and presented virtual performances
that have combined solo and small-group singing with the power, energy,
and musicality of the full choir, pastiched together from individual recordings.

Continuing to make music together has been a joy for the Singers through
this difficult time — and now, we're thrilled to be performing live again!
Our annual Pops concert, “Brand New Day,” will be presented at the
Lexington Opera House on May 15th at 7:30 pm. In conjunction with the
Opera House, careful steps are being taken to mitigate COVID-19 risk
with spaced seating and masks when the full choir is singing.

This year’s Pops concert focuses on joy, community, and renewal, with dynamic performances of celebration songs like “Aquarius (Let the Sunshine In)”
from “Hair” and “Brand New Day” from “The Wiz” as well as lyrical ballads
like the Carpenters’ “We’ve Only Just Begun”, and the rousing
“The Sound of Music” classic “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”
