The Lexington Singers kick off the 2022-23 season with a return to the wonderful sanctuary of Calvary Baptist Church and a reprise of a work that they originally performed in the year 2000: contemporary American composer Rene Clausen's masterful cantata "A New Creation." This beautiful piece for chorus, orchestra, and soloists uses biblical texts that express thankfulness and gratitude--sentiments that resonate with all of us as we hopefully enter a post-pandemic season.
Joining the Singers on this concert is our own handbell choir, the Lexington Ringers, conducted by Jeff Marsh. This group is made up of talented and dedicated musicians, many of whom also sing in the Lexington Singers.

Join The Lexington Singers, The LSCC Intermediate Choir and The Lexington Ringers as we share songs of rejoicing.
The centerpiece of this concert is the iconic 20th century cantata "Rejoice in the Lamb" by revered British composer Benjamin Britten (1913-1976). Britten sets the words of 18th-century poet Christopher Smart, who famously wrote his poem while in an insane asylum. Smart's text celebrates the worship of God by all living things, each in its own way. The result is an unusually creative and clever masterpiece, musically challenging yet rewarding and thought-provoking.
