The Lexington Singers Children's Choir (LSCC) was formed to provide opportunities for the children of Lexington and the surrounding communities to participate in a quality choral music education program and to further musical understanding among all peoples regardless of religious, racial, cultural or economic background.

Auditions: Tuesday, August 19, 2008 (4-6 pm), & Tuesday, August 26, 2008 (4-6 pm), at Crestwood Christian Church, 1882 Bellefonte Drive at Glendover Road
- Now with three choirs: Preparatory Choir (rehearses 4:30-5:20 pm), Advanced Choir (rehearses 4:30-5:30 pm), & Chamber Choir (rehearses 4:30-5:40 pm)
- Treble voices only, grades 1-12
- Rehearsals on Tuesdays, beginning Sept 2nd, at Crestwood Christian Church, 1882 Bellefonte Drive at Glendover Road
- Performance opportunities with The Lexington Singers, the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra and UK Choirs

Description of Choirs
Preparatory Choir - beginning musical experience. Children who exhibit varying ability but willingness to sing. Begin to learn about "singing" voice and experiment with their high and low voice. Begin basics of rhythm, steady beat, tempo, and dynamics. Study/discuss performance etiquette and concert procedures.
Advanced Choir - children at this level have demonstrated a readiness to sing in parts. Through this level they will imporve their part-singing skills and begin to sing in two and three parts. Note-reading, basic score reading, basic vocal technique, beginning sight-reading skills and performance skills will be taught. Singers must have the discipline, maturity, and attention span to endure long dress rehearsals with Lexington Singers, Lexington Philharmonic, and UK Choirs. Singers in this choir will be expected to practice at home two times per week.
Chamber Choir - children at this level can sing independently in parts. They have demonstrated a healthy and accurate vocal tone. Their voice is developing and their range is increasing. They are able to "leap" in vocally wider and more dissonant intervals. Sight-reading and solfege is emphasized. The literature in this choir is more difficult and frequently in a foreign language. Singers must have the maturity to be leaders regarding performance etiquette. Singers in this choir will be expected to practice at home four times per week.
