Join The Lexington Singers
If you're interested in joining the Lexington Singers, here's some helpful information.
Auditions
The Lexington Singers conducts auditions twice yearly: in late August for the Fall Semester (September - December) and in January for the Winter/Spring Semester (January - May). Dates and times are posted to our web site, and also usually appear in the Lexington Herald Leader. Auditions are conducted by the Music Director; the number of openings in each voice part is set by the Music Director to meet the needs of the group.
Attendance Policy
To maintain our high performance standards, the Lexington Singers has an attendance policy which is strictly enforced. A very limited number excused absences is permitted for each member each semester; absences beyond this limit generally require review by the Music Director and the Absence Committee. Single concert absences are permitted under limited circumstances, with approval of the Board of Directors. Absence for an entire semester may be requested before the semester begins, and dues payment is still required.

Dues
Dues are $50 per semester and are payable at the beginning of each semester.
Performance Costumes
Women are required to purchase a performance costume. The cost is currently about $68. A special top for Pops concerts is required, which may be purchased or rented. Men are required to wear tuxedos to all performance events. A special vest and tie for Pops concerts is required, which may be purchased or rented.
Working Committees
Nearly two dozen member committees help keep the Lexington Singers running, and span a wide variety of interests. Committee participation is not required of every member, but is very much encouraged. Most Singers find Committee participation to be an enjoyable enhancement of their membership.
